Come celebrate our life-giving wizard of changes, the element water through over forty artist’s perspectives on the oceans and the circulatory system of the planet.

Lets Make Waves

  • The power and Beauty of water including the water cycle.
  • The Broken Circle and the current state of the oceans.
  • Healing Waters – what can be done.

Opening night entertainment: Saturday, March 24 features singers/musicians Cedric Smith and Terry Jones of Perth County Conspiracy, Glen Dias, Pam Gerrand and David Leaney; readings by Richard Fitzpatrick and Edward Payne and other assorted delights.

This exhibit is curated by Gallery 96 artists Lucinda Jones and Lesley Walker-Fitzpatrick with Toronto guest artists contributing through independent curator Susan Brown of Artify. Sponsored by Factory163 and Nancy Groenestege.

TVO is presenting Water Week March 19 to 25th so this show is very timely.

The theme of this show is collaboration!  Collaboration can be attain in so many different ways both interesting and surprising to view!  Please join Gallery 96 artist members and their guest artists showing work that they have produced in partnership with another artist. All work has been created specifically for this show.

ROOTS, WINGS, TAILS, and DREAMS: Monday, April 4, 2011 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. A creative movement workshop. Allow your body to become a tool of self-expression and self discovery through rhythm, mood, energy and increased body awareness with creative movement instructor and Gallery 96 member Lesley Walker-Fitzpatrick. JOIN the MASQUERADE: Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Maskmaking and Headress Workshop. Join Gallery 96 member Wendy O'Brien in making your choice of a mask or headpiece for the closing party on Saturday night. FEE: $10.

*MATERIALS Required* masking tape (full role) – bristol board (1 sheet minimum) / several (cereal like) boxes – pencil – ruler – scissors – tissue paper – white glue – hair dryer – acrylic paint – brushes – water container – found items (if desired).

DRESS UP ~ DRUMMING ~ DANCE: Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 7:00pm - 10:00pm. Goddess Exhibition Closing Festivities. A party to celebrate the Goddess with costume (optional), rhythms and movement. Drumcircle led by Cliff Patton of the Stratford Drumcircle.

Culture Days 2010

Art Appreciation, Demonstrations and Exhibition at Gallery 96

Culture Days is a grassroots Canadian movement to inspire and catalyze greater public participation in arts and culture. 2010 celebrations include thousands of free, interactive arts activities organized by communities coast to coast to coast -  September 24-26, 2010 in Stratford, ON. Come join Gallery 96 in our 2nd floor studio at Factory 163, 163 King St., Stratford for a weekend of Art Appreciation. Artists will be on hand to display and discuss their artwork and their techniques. Hours are Noon to 5pm from September 24-26. Please be there!
